Kindred Links by Omari Booker and Henry L. Jones

The Parthenon and Centennial Park Conservancy are proud to present Kindred Links by Omari Booker and Henry L. Jones in the East Gallery of the Parthenon from Friday, October 29 through Sunday, February 13, 2022.

Booker and Jones, two of Tennessee’s premier African American artists, created over two dozen artworks included in this new exhibition of paintings, video, and found objects. These pieces form a physical and spiritual survey of community and the impact of gentrification upon the heritage of North Nashville’s historically Black neighborhoods.

The Parthenon, in partnership with the Centennial Park Conservancy, will present Meyer Wolfe: The Star of All Things. The exhibit, which will be on view in the Parthenon’s East Gallery from Friday, February 5 through Sunday, June 6, presents images, artwork, and ephemera from Meyer Wolfe, an eclectic and prodigious artist best known for his portraits of Nashville’s Black community.

We Have a Vision: Nashville Women from the Centennial to Suffrage

Kate Kirkman, Anne Dallas Dudley, Kate Burch Warner, and Frankie Pierce.

Located in the West Gallery, the exhibit will use garments that belonged to Kate Kirkman from the 1890s and the 1910s to anchor an examination of her role and that of the Woman’s Department at the Exposition in fostering a conversation about women’s suffrage.

The Acropolis of Athens: The Photography of William James Stillman

William J. Stillman’s book, The Acropolis of Athens, Illustrated Picturesquely and Architecturally in Photography, was published in 1870, when photography was still in its infancy. The book is rare, with only a dozen surviving copies in public collections. The Nashville Parthenon’s copy came to light several years ago and art patrons Hope and Howard Stringer underwrote its conservation so that it could be exhibited.
