SLOW ART DAY AT THE PARTHENON
Enjoy Slow Art Day with programming that will highlight the unique art collection of the Parthenon!
From our Cowan Collection of 18th-20th century paintings to contemporary pieces in Red Arrow - Show Up! to architectural details, museum experts will share the wonderful works of art on display in the museum.
Plus, we will be offering special Slow Art Day Curator’s Art Talks with Acting Curator Jennifer Richardson where she will help you look slowly, explore a painting, and facilitate discussion about works in our permanent collection of art using Visual Thinking Strategies (VTS)!
Slow Art Day programming is open to visitors of all ages and will be celebrated with a variety of activities including:
9 AM Curator’s Art Talk- look and explore with Visual Thinking Strategies
9 - 9:30 AM Art Cart: Cowan Challenge
10 AM Architecture Tour
11 AM Kidsville*- read a book with Imagination Library and create art inspired by the book
11:45 AM - 4 PM Quiet Area- enjoy art books in the designated Quiet Area in the Treasury
12 PM Curator’s Art Talk- look and explore with Visual Thinking Strategies
1 - 1:30 PM Art Cart: Cowan Challenge
2 PM Curator’s Art Talk- look and explore with Visual Thinking Strategies
3 - 3:30 PM Art Cart: Cowan Challenge
4 PM Curator’s Art Talk- look and explore with Visual Thinking Strategies
