ABOUT THE PERFORMANCE:

In connection with the Christy Lee Rogers: The Muses exhibit, The Muses Educational Series will encourage visitors to imagine, engage, and create based on inspiration gained from The Muses through a series of hands-on workshops and events connected with each of the nine Greek Muses. Sessions will be held at the Parthenon, off-site, or virtually — all through partnerships with Nashville creatives and beloved local institutions. Inspired by the Greek Muses and their unique areas of influence, the workshops will include modern dance instruction, comedy improv, writing seminars, and more to enhance the exhibition’s impact on our local community.

ABOUT THE PERFORMERS:

Emma Supica (she/her) has been an arts educator for almost 20 years and has taught general, choral, and instrumental music classes in K12 schools, higher education, and nonprofit organizations. Her educational philosophy is centered on creative process, human development, and advocating for accessibility in the arts. She specializes in curriculum development, and values play and process in creative learning. Emma holds a Bachelor of Music Education from the University of Kansas and an M.Ed. in Nonprofit Leadership from Belmont University. She is a graduate of the Third Coast Comedy Club's improv training center, and is a frequent performer in several shows, including the improvised musical: Cherry Bomb.

Anne Veal (she/they) is a creator / performer / educator who specializes in improvised and ensemble-devised theatre. Currently she teaches at Third Coast Comedy Club and Unscripted and is developing bespoke corporate workshops with the Arts & Business Council. She taught improv in NYC from 2016-2020, helped run a start-up theater, and developed an Instant Teams program which gave over 300 improvisers a team, a coach, and stage time to develop their chops. They’ve performed internationally with Rapid Fire Theatre, Det Andre Teatret, and the Vancouver International Improv Festival. Anne’s devised and scripted work has been seen in Washington, DC; Prague, CZ; Chicago, IL; Basin, MT; Louisville, KY; and NYC, housed in theatre spaces, haunted mansions, and historic buildings. She believes the surprise and accident of the moment is the greatest gift we can train ourselves to receive, onstage or off.

LEARN MORE ABOUT UNSCRIPTED IMPROV:

Unscripted was born from the desire of Nashville’s Third Coast Comedy Club co-founders Luke Watson and Scott Field to serve the community beyond performances in the club’s theater. Emma Supica, an improviser and nonprofit arts educator in the community, signed on to serve as founding director of an organization which could deliver this vision. Supica dedicated her master’s thesis to learn more about the impact of improv as an applied art form, and set out to build Unscripted.
