Local to Global: The Enduring Power of Orpheus
Join us on March 28, 2025 from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at the Parthenon for a free film and screenplay workshop. No previous experience necessary!
As one of Ancient Greece’s most enduring tragedies, the legend of Orpheus has inspired filmmakers from all over the world for nearly a century. This workshop will trace the importance of Orpheus to international film culture from France and Poland to Australia and the American South. It will also offer an opportunity for attendees to adapt the story to Nashville’s own unique culture. No creative writing or screenwriting experience necessary!
RSVP in advance for FREE admission for this event.
About the event:
In connection with the Christy Lee Rogers: The Muses exhibit, The Muses Educational Series will encourage visitors to imagine, engage, and create based on inspiration gained from The Muses through a series of hands-on workshops and events connected with each of the nine Greek Muses. Sessions will be held at the Parthenon, off-site, or virtually — all through partnerships with Nashville creatives and beloved local institutions. Inspired by the Greek Muses and their unique areas of influence, the workshops will include modern dance instruction, comedy improv, writing seminars, and more to enhance the exhibition’s impact on our local community.
